Last Friday, team Jumbo Visma presented their team at the head office of their new sponsor Hema. It was a presentation that revealed their sparkling ambitions. They only have one goal for 2020: Winning the Tour de France. They presented their talent and development team, there were interview sessions with their top riders, and they announced in which races each rider will ride. By revealing that Tom Dumoulin, Steven Kruijswijk and Primož Roglič will all start in the Tour, their ambition is underlined once more.
The team's ambitions are not only sportswise but also digital. As a part of their 'digital team', SportsCloud has been working on the implementation of the fan base strategy since the end of 2018. It is a strategy that gives the many associated partners access to the fans and followers of the cycling and ice skating team.
The interests and preferences of the fanbase are registered. Mainly the interests and preferences that are relevant to the team and its partners, to conduct more targeted, relevant and personal marketing. Is anyone interested in cycling or ice skating? Is anyone an active cyclist, and if so, and what type of rider is he or she? When this knowledge is built up and centralised within the right systems, clothing partner AGU can, for example, offer active cyclists a range of cycling clothing.
In addition to launching the team, they also revealed the new shirt for the upcoming cycling season. The reveal directly coincided with the launch of our webshop. The team developed this shop together with TDE to take their first steps into the field of e-commerce. While in the past years, the team clothing was for sale at partner AGU, the team now sells their shirts through their own channel.
